Animal Rehabilitation Division

Mission Statement
The Animal Rehabilitation division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association , advocates that registered physiotherapists are the professionals of choice to provide animal rehabilitation. The division is a resource for the best practice of animal rehabilitation through education, professional development and communication within the animal health care industry.

Vision Statement

  • To improve the neuromusculoskeletal health of animals
  • To promote the advancement of clinical practice in animal rehabilitation
  • To increase the awareness of and access to animal rehabilitation by registered physiotherapists

Activities

  •  Production of a quarterly newsletter providing information on anatomy, treatment techniques, recent advances, upcoming courses and news about the division.

  • Promoting the field of animal physiotherapy provincially, nationally and internationally. The Executive provides communication to CPA, and is currently involved in obtaining further provincial/college recognition, as well as pursuing a credentialing program. They are also initiating a move to establish an animal rehabilitation sub-group within the WCPT.
  • Providing canine and equine courses to physiotherapists to train new Animal Rehabilitation division members, and continue the education of existing ones.
